does anyone know how I can cancel my installation appointment with openreach tomorrow? I have no phone line to connect my router to, and I’m told I’ll be charged a fee if I don’t have it ready for an engineer

I'm not sure who gave you that information but its incorrect. Your Engineer appotiment will be to check and install a Line if you haven't already got one as part of your service to go Live.
