Mesh System

Hi,

We have fibre broadband up to 36 Mb per second. From the router, we can achieve Wi-Fi speeds of 32 Mb per second.

However we have an old rambling house with thick walls so we have an extensive mesh system. This allows browsing but not much more. The maximum we can achieve with the mesh – even when using the Mesh hub directly connected to the router – is 5 Mb per second.

The mesh company say this is nothing to do with their products… So what am I doing wrong?!

thanks

Matt

If the mesh system just uses WiFi between devices, then the thick walls are the issue, you cannot change the laws of physics.

As the 2.4 Ghz band has better penetration through solid surfaces, if possible set the system to use that and not the 5 Ghz band, with an incoming speed of 36 it will not adversely affect speed to individual devices.

Also, download a WiFi analyser and check that there is no interference between the HUB and mesh and that they are using different channels.
