It has been confirmed that we cannot remove the blocked servers from our IWF blocking proxy.
Can I receive a list of vk.com servers that are being blocked at the moment? Wheteher it's IWF or not, some vk.com services that have no relation to videos nor child abuse (such as automatic updates, photo upload) are not available. And since when secure connections are also filtered and bocked?
Soz for double posting. How do I know that it's talk talk blocking? Managed to access all services using a computer in Denmark, worked perfectly.
Talktalk arnt blocking it The iwf are this is something prettymuch as brittish isps use to block some types of content and vks website dosnt seem to like being filtered in this way there isn't much talktalk can do about this they do not control The content on this list
how the IWF works is explained on their website, but basically it's this. Any responsible Service Provider signs up to agree to adhere to the terms of the IWF the IWF are there to protect against and prevent the posting of material containing the sexual abuse of adults and children for this reason TalkTalk are blocking access to certain servers hosted by VK.COM.
For obvious reasons this isn't going to be cleared in the way faults would be. I would suggest that you contact VK.COM or IWF if you have further questions about this.
This is all utter nonsense!
I have called customer services and they were able to get my access to work for a few days. All what they have mentioned was that I had adult filters content turned on as standard (even though this was not the case when I have checked my online account, they were all turned off). They denied any other cause for the blocking of it!
Today the same videos that I have accessed a few days ago were blocked!!.
In all, this stems to incompetence, ignorance and dictatorship!
When I have signed for Talk Talk I was not advised that you would block access to websites. I have used your service for many years and paid for your growth, now you seem to have gained a false conscience? I do not agree with certain abuses on the Internet however I will reserve the right of choice and not being dictated by bullying big daddy!!!
How do you plan to catch criminals if you block their access??? Your actions are rather disingenuous! You will not curb criminals from their illegal actions you've just pushed them further underground... And in the process you hurt genuine customers! How intelligent is that?
Your company seems rather incompetent, because it does not convey a clear and concise message across all communication channels. Instead of force selling packages, you should be explicit about your dictator intentions from the onset and thus give consumers the opportunity to make an informed choice there and then! Instead you hooked them to a service and then remove their access!!! If this is not dictatorship then what is it?
Instead of playing messages back and forward like little babies asking big daddy for help, please act responsibly and let us know clearly what is going on? As I have mentioned before, we will then make a choice and choose a service provider that matches our free values.
It would be great if your CEO could read these messages for once, instead of brawling about how well she brought the company growth on radio 4, as her salary is paid by us too.
Thank in anticipation.
I look forward for your swift nonsense free, deception free reply! Are you able to help us with that?
I am getting tired and just want to be able to make a choice now!
Just got a word from IWF. They block content in such a way that it shouldn't disrupt the service what so ever. This is IWF reply to: What servers/IP Addresses are on your URL Blocking List?
We only provide a list of URLs and not server /IP Addresses. The URLs will be of the form vk.com/somecontent where ‘some content’ is a path to illegal content.
Meaning, that TalkTalk is actually disrupting the service, IWF has nothing to do with this. If it was IWF fault then we would have this error because of the way URL blocking works.
Now I'm goin to give TalkTalk Engineers a clue to solving this problem because this is what the support team of vk.com said about ALL of my problems over and over again. I feel like an idiot after all of my reports.
The problem is how your ISP routes traffic. Requests from your browser are coming to us via different gateways concurrently, which breaks IP bindings for generated media links. In the end you are getting these errors. For example, when you hit play on a video, a player requests a link to a video file. Link is genertated to IP-address this request came from. Then player tries to open this link but the request comes from a different IP-address. Player gets 404 error instead of video file.
Now that you've got the tools, go and fix the problem that is caused by your and your service alone for the past (in my case) 3 months. Excepting a conpensation after all of this nonsense.
we've been advised by the engineers in charge of this area, that we cannot lift the block or we'd fail to comply with our agreement with IWF, however, I will pass this back and ask them for a full statement to help you better understand the situation.
You don't break any agreements that you have made with IWF. The problem is not within the URL List the problem is within the way data is transmitted. As long as you keep URL List intact (that you will, you don't need to do anything there) you will not break the agreement with IWF. It's all on your end, TalkTalk end.
'Due to the application of our blocking of the IWF list of URLs that contain child abuse imagery, a small number of users may have experienced intermittent issues accessing Wordpress / vk.com at the end of last week. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.'
Thank you for your patience.
So, why can't I still watch a video on how to make cookies on vk? because it contains child pornography?
Also why is my location London, not somewhere around my city or Scotlnad? Will these problems be ever fixed? can I stop using your service due to distruption of service and not to pay a penny more?
