Remote Access to router

I'm trying to remotely access my new DG8041W but starting to think this isn't possible with the TalkTalk package - anyone shed any light on this one ?

I guess I could put a Raspberry Pi behind the device but sounds like a lot of effort for remote access

In this day and age why would you block remote access ? Can this be suggested and the feature enabled. I always use this feature to enable a new location on the router firewall if I need to rdp to a device at home. As I do not want to open RDP to the world. However sometimes I am at a new location so it helps to be able to login to the router remotely and update the firewall rules.
