I have standard broadband which is fine when it is working but it keeps dropping out. Why is the Talktalk service so unreliable?

Hi @Studiosoft quick answer 1000 and 1 possibilities. Let's start at the beginning. Welcome to the community, your post has been flagged for assistance and you should hear during tomorrow.

Please check your community profile and add your landline phone number if necessary it is used to identify your account please don't post personal details here.

The team here will then be able to check your connection and rule those issues in and out.

After that router checks, please plug it into the test socket on the master box..... It goes on and on but at the end you will get a result. Good luck.

Regards Divsec, I don't work here, know little, and have too many opinions.

My master socket doesn not have a test socket but this should not be an issue.

Hi Studiosoft,

I'm sorry to hear this. Are you experiencing any issues with the voice service such as noise on the line? Is the router connected to the master socket? Do you have any extension sockets? Do you have an alternative router that you can test with?

Thanks

The voice service is working even when the broadband is off.

The router is connected to the master socket and the installation has only been having problems for the past few weeks, before then it was fine.

Restarting the router restores the connection without making any changes to anything else.

Hi Studiosoft,

Do the lights change on your router when the connection drops?

How many telephone sockets do you have? Do you have anything connected to your telephone socket(s) in addition to your router?

Chris

ADSL light remains lit and the 'Internet' light someth=imes goes off, sometimes stay s on.

There are 2 phone sockets in the house with phones connected.

Thanks, so the router and telephones connect to your 2 telephone sockets via micro-filters?

Chris

Yes - it is a standard installation.

Are the two telephones that you have connected to your telephone sockets, corded or cordless?

Have you tested with a second router?

Chris

No, I don't have a second router to test it with.

I can send a router to test with, would you like me to arrange this?

Chris

Would there be a charge for that?

Hi

No charge for supplying a router for diagnostics purposes.

Would you like us to send this ?

Thanks

I received a replacement router last week with which to test this but I have been in bed with flu since.

I finally got a chance to test the new router today and discover that the new PSU is dead.

Hi Studiosoft,

Hope you're feeling better

Just to confirm, when you connect the router there are no lights on?

Chris
