User is unable to disable the Error Replacement Service through the opt out and we are unable to change the DNS on the router (Huawei DG8041, firmware v1.05t) to the non ERS ones.
http://www.talktalk.co.uk/optout has been visited by the user, we waited weeks, and rebooted the router but still Error Replacement Service hijacks the address.
So we tried setting the DNS manually on the hub and that's not possible either.
Apparently this has already been reported: https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Broadband/How-to-change-router-s-DNS-servers-Wi-Fi-Hub-Black/td-...
And the support page for 3rd Party DNS doesn't match the pages on the router admin page: https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/Using-3rd-Party-DNS/ta-p/2205279
Meanwhile we're advising clients to avoid TalkTalk.

If you've already selected the link to opt out and it's not working then please can you try powering down the router for 30 minutes as this will update the opt out settings for error replacement service.

That's sets the DNS server presented to the client device.
It doesn't change the DNS servers used by the router so the router can't resolve addresses that it looks after because it's being bypassed.

I'm using the wifi hub DG8041w. It is possible to change DNS, I'm using google DNS.
log in, go to Internet Settings, Then Advanced Settings.
select the 2 cogs Icon.
Under LAN then DHCP server, you can change the DNS.
Here is a pic from my router below.
