new router will not remain on the fastest band

I have just installed the new Talktalk Hub router.  I see that it has two bands but keeps movingmy laptop to the slower band whilst allowing the iPhone and iPad to remain on the faster one.  Is there a way to prioritise which devices have the fastest bands?.

Split the SSIDs so they have different names, such as PETER2 and PETER5.

If you have a Windows laptop, connect to the faster SSID and untick the "Connect Automatically" box for the slower SSID.

Have you tried separating the SSID's?

Split your router's SSID (wireless network name)
