These are typically marketing calls trying to promote a service or product they may be a live call but could be an automated recorded message. If you’re finding that you receive a lot of these we’d suggest that in addition to reporting the number that you also register for the TPS.

These calls can often be difficult to identify because the caller may claim to be from a company who you use, such as Microsoft, Your bank or internet service provider.

Normally calls from one or more company’s trying to sell a service or product. You should be able to manage your marketing preferences with these company’s to reduce these calls or alternatively you can register for the TPS.

Is there anyone there… These are calls where you answer the phone but there isn’t anyone on the other end. If you’re receiving a lot of silent calls you can get further advice from Ofcom on 02079813040.
