Cannot create mailbox

Hi, I have been trying to create a talktalk.net mailbox for a couple of weeks now, and every time I try, I get an error message saying "Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again."

 

Trying again doesn't help. Waiting a couple of days doesn't help. The last forum posts about it were several months back, and the answer was that the issue had been resolved. Well - the issue has come back.

 

Any suggestions?

Some customers have had difficulty creating the mailbox in their MyAccount when it's the 5th entry or when the mailbox is already associated with another probably archived MyAccount.

 

Would you say it may be one of the above reasons?  If so then you'll need help from the TalkTalk team and I've called for that help for you.

 

You'll not be able to recreate an existing mailbox address but if it's still active there's an Add existing mailbox link but that'll only work if not already associated with another MyAccount.

 

Please do a quick check that your Community Profile includes in Personal Information (Click here) your name, current TalkTalk landline 'phone number and an alternate number (mobile recommended) and address with postcode (location). Then scroll down to Private notes to add the email address with any relevant other notes and finally save changes. TalkTalk's Community Team OCE will then locate your registered TalkTalk details.

Thanks for your reply. I am trying to set up the first mailbox - none have ever been created (despite being about 15 months with Talktalk)

 

I'll go check my personal info etc now and make sure it's all complete 🙂

Hi nigelhertz 

 

Managing your email in My Account has the detail for creating a new mailbox.

 

What it doesn't say is that the preferred email address must not have been used before i.e. it's got to be available as a brand new address and that the password must follow the guidelines before pressing the final Create button.

If there's still a problem then a fault ticket can be raised.

Hi Nigel, one of the problems with this is that you get the same error message for all issues. It doesn't tell you if you've picked an email already used.
