The subject of this post says it all.

My Windows 10 Outlook POP account settings are as follows:

Incoming mail:

User name: xxxxxxxx@talktalk.net

Password: xxxxxxxxxxxx shown

Server: mail.talktalk.net

Port: 995

SSL/TLS requirement: ‘TICKED’

SPA NOT TICKED

Outgoing mail:

Server: smtp.talktalk.net

Port: 587

Encryption method: STARTTLS

Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication: ‘TICKED’

Use same settings as my incoming mail server ‘CIRCLED & HIGHLIGHTED’

THIS NEXT…

‘Updating xxxxxxxx@talktalk.net’

We’re getting things ready…

SMALL INSET SCREEN APPEARS:

‘Enter your user name and password for the following server.’

Server: mail.talktalk.net

User Name: xxxxxxxx@talktalk.net

Password: xxxxxxxxxxxx shown

OK ‘TICKED’

THEN…

“Something went wrong

Something went wrong and Outlook couldn’t save your account settings.

Please try again.” I did this several times without success.

I open E-Mail Accounts – highlighting xxxxxxxxxtalktalk.net and click ‘REPAIR’…

The following SMALL INSET SCREEN APPEARS:

‘Enter your user name and password for the following server.’

Server: mail.talktalk.net

User Name: xxxxxxxx@talktalk.net

Password: xxxxxxxxxxxx shown

OK ‘TICKED’...

“Something went wrong

We couldn’t log onto the incoming (POP) server. Please check your e-mail address and password and try again.”

This problem started last Wednesday evening.

I can see that the POP 3 settings are as recommended by T.T. and, since I can SEND messages by using Outlook, I think the problem may well lie with TalkTalk. I may be wrong but I should be grateful if anyone would let me know if they see something that I should have done that hasn't been done or vice-versa..

Thanks.
