Since the update when I log in online to my emails, on the left hand side where the 2 "circles" are, the is a flashing question mark and !.
eg. These are flashing in the circle "? and !".
Also if there are any links within an email, nothing happens when I click the link.

Your browser is probably blocking pop-ups. What you'll need to do is allow pop-ups and re-direct links for https://apps.talktalk.co.uk:443 if it's the Chrome browser or https://apps.talktalk.co.uk for others.
What browser is it? The description of flashing circles with question marks etc doesn't tell me which one.
...and Allowed the redirects to get the links working?
This is my Chrome: pop-up blocking but redirects allowed to make sure links work.
I'd like to see a screenshot showing the issue including the icons that you mentioned. But what I'd do is see if the issue also happens with the Firefox browser so you can be sure it's not malware or ad-blocker extension or a security software issue and is confined to Chrome and or its extensions.
If it is a Chrome issue and there are Chrome extensions that are active you might consider making a note of the extensions and uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome so you can prove the basic Chrome browser will work ok.

You will see that when I go to log in online, there are 2 question marks in the "Mail and Address" headings.
This flashes between "?" and "!"

Then in the main body of the mail to the left, is the "!" also flashes between "!" and "?".

I can see what's happening to the icons now.
TalkTalk Webmail uses the fontawesome icon set version 4.7. But one of your Chrome Extensions is calling for the fontawesome icon set version 5. That's why the icons aren't being rendered correctly.
So what I suggest is to check the Extensions

As I started this post and I have a problem still relating to similar item, I thought best to add here rather then start a new thread.
The extension works fine and thanks to all again.
The problem is I want to register with a website.
If I register there is a confirmation email that I have to click to activate my account.
If I use my preferred email, which is Talktalk, I do not get an email from them!
Its as if its been blocked by Talktalk!
But if I use my Hotmail account, I get the activation email!!
I have tried on both my Talktalk emails but nothing.
