Out of the blue, all my family email accounts will not send emails using Apple Mail client. SMTP connection failure. Webmail still works. I haven't changed anything - any ideas why this would suddenly become a problem?

Ha, I haven't restarted anything and a bunch of test emails I sent before I started trying to solve it have just come through.
Looks like it's resolved itself!
Thanks for your advice Gondola

As the common factor across all devices appears to be the home broadband connection then despite webmail working normally I'm thinking that you should try a reboot of the home broadband router.
On a fibre connection, depower the router and leave switched off for 30 minutes before repowering. On a standard broadband connection, switch back on after 5 minutes.
Just confirm that all mail accounts are added to your TalkTalk Consumer customer MyAccount in the My Mailboxes list. Just asking because mailboxes that aren't present on an active MyAccount might be restricted to webmail only access.

Yes, TalkTalk broadband, no VPN.
As I say, nothing has changed. Just now I can't use Apple Mail to send emails.
I've contacted TalkTalk via Twitter and can't seem to get any help from that so far - very long delay between responses.

The fact that webmail still works proves the mailboxes are working as normal.
The outgoing servers appear to be operating normally and response time is good.
Are all devices connecting via your home broadband network? Are you using a VPN or Internet Security that might be affecting the outgoing connection to the mail server?
