Sorry OCE Ady - I find it difficult to find the correct bit of the Community site. You kindly replied to my last comment to my alternative e-mail address. My problem is with my talktalk e-mail address (not the lineone address that you helped me with before). As this is a 'legacy' e-mail address I cannot go through the normal 'account' route. I can log into webmail BUT the greeting is to Patrick BARTH logged in tas me (there also seems to have been some spam e-mail to various French e-mail addresses - so this may have been where the hijack occurred.
Although I can log in to webmail OK there is nothing new in my Inbox BUT I am getting more recent Spam and Trash e-mails - can I change my password and get rid of this hanger on?
As always I have a number of important things using the talktalk e-mail as their contact. I'm scared to change my password (if I can, as I no longer have an account with TalkTalk). Obviously I cannot receive any e-mail through Outlook as this is only a reflection of the webmail. I am happy to give you my password if I am able to retain the e-mail address and then change the password if it can be up and running.

Password recovery may have been set up for the email address with an alternate email and or mobile number. Please do try the Reset your Password option. Other than the reset to the account itself, if there are alternates listed, see if you recognise them from the hints and if you do have access to the alternate email or mobile for password recovery then please reset the password to secure the account.
If you still have access to the email account including via webmail sign in then you can send a reset to the account itself via the Reset your Password option and you'll have 30 minutes to change the password to secure the account.
To maintain your personal security then full deletion of a redundant email account is a good decision.
The Data Protection Team will delete an email account for you under your General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Right to Erasure. Here's the TalkTalk advice article related to the GDPR. Scroll down and select the section Your right to be forgotten also known as Right to Erasure for instructions for requesting that your email account and any contents are authorised for deletion by the Data Protection team.
As well as your identification they'll need proof that you're the registered user of the email address including:
Account verification is managed by the Data Protection team before email account deletion is authorised as deletion of personal data is not reversible.
Reports say that the process is handled quickly but do please update us on the outcome as it's good to get feedback.

I have re-routed my talktalk e-mails through another e-mail address but I would like to cancel this e-mail address now - I am no longer a client of TalkTalk and consequently I cannot access the means to do this myself, despite a rather odd call purporting to come from TalkTalk telling me that the webmail had been changed to allow me to change my password??. My e-mails are still going to the highjacker - who is mass mailing pornography in my name and trying to get into my Facebook account - but I have retrieved and changed the e-mail contact for a number of my hopefully more important contacts - but the highjacker e-mailed me yesterday to threaten disclosure of my depraved! use of porn sites - er?? Please remove the e-mail address completely, I need to stop this.

Thanks for your reply notification to my alternative e-mail address. I have patiently, and thoroughly, examined the possibility of changing my e-mail password, without success, as being a former customer of talktalk I no longer have access to 'My Account'. However once I was 'in' to webmail I changed my name back from the highjacker of my account - which was appearing as Patrick Barth. This account appears to be still active but re-routing to this Patrick Barth. There are items in both the Junk and Spam folders more recent than 26th March which was the last date that I received any mail from my talktalk e-mail address into my Outlook folder. Please can you forward my problem on? In the 'sent' folder in webmail there are a number of e-mails purporting to be from me going in the main to a number of French e-mail addresses, none of which are known to me, so I assume that this is Spam - also when I examined the source? there were yards and yards of 'links'. Should I go into my webmail again and delete everything, or possibly only the older 'sent' e-mails? There are e-mails dating from 2015! - or should I leave it up to TalkTalk? If this person who is sending Spam via my e-mail address could be found and punished this would be really good. Any assistance that you can give will be much appreciated.

If your email account has been compromised then do please change the password.
Password recovery will usually have been set up for the TalkTalk email address with an alternate email and or mobile number. Please do try the Reset your Password option. Other than the reset to the account itself, if there are alternates listed, see if you recognise them from the hints and if you do have access to the email or mobile then please reset the password.
Or if you're a TalkTalk broadband customer or recent customer you can change your email password in MyAccount > My Services > Webmail - Manage Webmail, if the email is listed in one of the 5 email address slots.
Here's the advice article on managing your email in MyAccount.
If the self-help password change / recovery options aren't effective then I'll alert the TalkTalk Community team for you. Let me know.
