Email not working .

First Timer

Hi my Email for TT and Hotmail using Windows live mail have both stopped working.

I have pinged both servers and they seem ok.

The link above is for several screenshots.

Any help much appreciated ..

Your server settings are not quite right.  The use of insecure outgoing port 25 is deprecated and you had that set for secure.  The second set of secure port settings for TalkTalk you had set for insecure.


The email settings you need are:


Account Type  IMAP (recommended) POP3
Login / Username
Password Yes Yes
Password authentication Clear text Clear text
Incoming mail server
Incoming Port 993 995
Incoming Security Yes / SSL
Yes / SSL
Outgoing mail server
Outgoing Port 587 587
Outgoing Security Yes / STARTTLS
Outgoing Authentication Yes Yes

I dont understand how my settings are wrong as they are the ones I`ve used for many months .

ps: my screenshot link seems to have been removed , I guess there was info in them that I shouldn`t have posted .. Ooops.. Time to reboot the router ..

My email appears to be working now without me touching a thing !

I guess TT fixed it ?.. But I will try the settings you suggest for security .

Hi Templogin, you mentioned that both TalkTalk and Hotmail weren't working. TalkTalk have no control of Hotmail this points at an issue with your mail client rather than TalkTalk mail servers. 

Please log in to My Account if you need to view or pay your bill, manage boosts and track your usage. From My Account you can also check your connection and test your line for any issues in the Service Centre.
