Trying to do the same thing, adding the email account to my account for the same issue. After having had no problem with the email address via outlook 2013 for many years no idea what the password is. And it wants to send the reset password to an email address we cant access - because we cant remember the password. Getting authentication error using lineone.net pop3 server since midnight 6th July. SMTP outgoing is fine.

Any bright ideas?

Unfortunately, some of the information provided doesn't match the information held on system. I've resent the link this time please answer don't know/have password then you can provide some alternate information.

In summary:

  • You have a lineone.net email address but that is not added to a customer MyAccount
    so it's been restricted to webmail only access. 
  • You cannot add the lineone.net email address to MyAccount
    because you don't know the current password.
  • You cannot upgrade the current password
    because you haven't set up password recovery.

 

I'll let TalkTalk know that the password recovery options aren't available.

 

A TalkTalk Support member will need to verify you as the registered email user and set up your password recovery alternate email address and mobile number (the Reset details) so you can send a password reset link or code to authenticate a password change.

 

Prepare for TalkTalk Mail Support by including in your Community Profile, Personal Information (here)

  • Your name, current home 'phone number. An alternative (mobile preferred) contact number. Full address with postcode (Location)
  • Scroll down to Private notes to add the lineone.net email address needing recovery, notes and linked address etc
  • After checking and updating, Save changes

A TalkTalk Support member will reply here and then Community Personal Message you to confirm your customer account details and or details related to the original registration of the email address.

 

When verified the Reset details will be set up during a working week within 24 hours allowing you to set your own password via the Forgotten your Password journey. Make sure the password is ultra-strong and unique to the mailbox.

 

Then you'll be able to add the email address to your MyAccount to have full access to mail apps as well as webmail.  Here's the advice article on managing your email in MyAccount.
