I cannot find any instructions for configuring Outlook to use POP3, The only instructions do not say if they are for IMAP or POP3. Does Talktalk no longer support POP3? If so, how do I convert to IMAP?
I am told the settings have been corrupted and I need to create a new profile.

Suggests that the encryption type you've set is not SSL/TLS.
A screenshot would be helpful so I can see what you see.

Thanks for the POP3 settings. I have entered them into Outlook exactly as given. But I get a message saying something has gone wrong
I am told:
Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): Your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified. Try changing the encryption method. Contact your mail server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for additional assistance.

Hi davidw40
Having just been surprised that the official settings no longer show the setup for POP3 I don't know if that's a precursor to ceasing support for POP3 but for now here are the settings for a POP3 mail account.
Should you wish to switch from POP3 to IMAP it's important to first save locally downloaded emails before deleting your POP3 account in Outlook. Then when setting up a new IMAP account the difference in the below settings is to set the incoming port to 993 for IMAP.
Supported* email client and app settings are:
Account Type | POP3 |
Username | Full email address |
Password | Email password |
Incoming mail server | mail.talktalk.net |
Incoming Port (POP3) | 995 |
Incoming Connection Security | SSL/TLS |
Outgoing mail server | smtp.talktalk.net |
Outgoing Port | 587 |
Outgoing Connection Security | STARTTLS |
My Outgoing Server Requires Authentication | Yes |
Authentication Method | Normal Password (not SPA) |
* Email clients, apps and devices that do not support secure mail using a minimum of TLS1.2 connection security are not supported.
