Hi elderly father has suddenly started having problems with his TalkTalk email on his Mac.
It would not send emails but it could receive. It removed the account and reinstated it. It has installed it back as Pop. I did the same TalkTalk email account on my Mac and it did it as Imap and is working fine.
I am baffled. Please can anyone help me
ps I am having to remotely connect to my fathers Mac to change settings

If the mail account has downloaded and deleted messages from the Inbox which is the default characteristic of a POP3 email account then save wanted messages before proceeding.
Then remove the mail account from the MAC, reboot the computer and re-add the mail account using manual setup as an IMAP account.
The TalkTalk.net email settings you need are:
|Account Type||IMAP (recommended)|
|Incoming mail server||mail.talktalk.net|
|Incoming Security||SSL (or Use TLS/SSL)
|Outgoing SMTP server||smtp.talktalk.net|
|Outgoing Security||STARTTLS (or Use TLS/SSL)
|Authentication Method||Normal Password
