Tiscali email has stopped

My Tiscali email account has stopped working.

 

Last email received at 00:41 on 18.01.22. Cannot send on any platform (inc. Webmail) or device.

 

TalkTalk account was closed a year ago on 18.01.21 - so has the Tiscali address now (after a year) just been closed down without warning?

 

Can I keep it active?

 

Can I salvage any incoming emails?

 

Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Gondola - deleting Filter Rules solved it - not straightaway - but it did...

Just asking for positive confirmation that after the deletion of all Filter rules for your mailbox via the TalkTalk Mail webmail sign in that the self send email test does result in mail arriving in the Inbox and that the mailbox is working as expected.

Via TalkTalk Mail webmail, retry the compose and self-send email test to check that the mail does now arrive in and stay in the Inbox.

 

If there's no Auto forward and no other Filter rules then the mailbox should be back to working as expected.

 

As there's been clear hacker activity that you know about then it's well worth carrying out anti-virus and anti-malware scans on all your devices to make sure there is no virus, trojan or other malware that could be grabbing passwords.

 

Do let us know when you're back in action, at least using webmail. Use of email clients and apps may be out of action if you're not a current TalkTalk home broadband or MailPlus customer.

We're getting there Gondola - thank you...

The last emails I received related to my Instagram account;

  • log-in query
  • password change
  • new device
  • email changed (on Instagram account)

Then nothing...

All the above were not by me.

So assumed hacker.

Instagram account now deleted (by me).

 

I have now deleted the Default1 filter rule - there are none now. 

 

Changed Recovery Reset Details.

No evidence of Hackers in Address Book.

 

Not back in action yet though....

I've seen Default1 used by hackers.

 

So, my take would be that your mailbox password was compromised and a hacker set up the filter rule.

 

Delete all Filter rules, double check your password recovery reset details (although I noted you did change the password) and check the Address Book for any evidence of hacker addresses being added.

 

Let us know that when all Filter rules are gone that you're back in action.

In summary:

  • No error message on webmail sign in
  • No error message on self sending mail to the same tiscali email address
  • No receipt of self-sent mail in the tiscali Inbox

Do you see your self-sent mail in the Sent objects folder?

What did you find on checking Filter rules?

Webmail opens - still no activity since it all stopped.

 

Sent a Test to same address - nothing received.

Hi kevin m 

 

TalkTalk Mail addresses not added to an active TalkTalk Consumer customer MyAccount (orphan addresses), are being limited to Internet browser webmail access and flagged for deletion if no action is taken*. TalkTalk email notifications are being sent.

 

Select here: Sign in to TalkTalk Mail

 

Enter your tiscali email address and password, select Sign in. If you know the current email password you'll get signed in via this webmail access.  You should be able to receive mail and send mail via webmail.

 

Would you recheck the sending of mail via webmail and let us know what happens.

 

Compose and self-send the same tiscali mailbox a mail message. Check that the message sends without error, is copied into the Sent objects folder and arrives in and stays in the Inbox.

 

Mail not reaching the Inbox could mean there's a Filter rule, including an Auto forward which is a special filter rule, that's diverting, discarding or blocking mail.

  • To check, select the Main Settings menu icon      triple line icon top right on the blue header
    (Mobile browser? use the desktop version)
  • Select Settings from the top of the menu
  • Select the inward facing arrowhead by Mail (or Email) in the left side panel
  • Select Filter Rules
    If there's no rule defined, that's perfect
  • To delete a Filter rule including any Auto forward
    select the Dustbin icon    to the right of the rule
    The icon background will turn red    
  • To confirm you really want to delete this Filter rule
    Select the blue Delete button

Let us know of any error message, or if mail did not arrive in the Inbox or disappeared from the Inbox. Collecting mail messages with a POP3 mail account or mail collection service, like Gmail, may be deleting messages from the online Inbox.

 

* The action to take to restore email access on supported devices is:

  • Add the email address to an active TalkTalk Consumer customer MyAccount
  • If not a customer, rejoin TalkTalk for home broadband or subscribe to  TalkTalk MailPlus

36 hours ago my Tiscali email address stopped having the ability to send or receive emails - everywhere (Webmail, Outlook, etc) and on all devices.

 

Landline on my old/closed TalkTalk account was shutdown exactly a year ago.

 

Cheeky to be asking for help on a TalkTalk forum - but is this linked?

 

I have reset the password - but still nothing.

 

How can I reactivate?

 

Or, can I forward all my Tiscali emails to another address?

 

Hoping for some help and advice....
