I've been unable to access my longstanding Tiscali email account since July. It has been used regularly but now requires a password I don't have. I'd like to get it back in use please.

The Reset your password now button in the help article Changing your email password
will take you to password reset and recovery. If the email address is still active on the TalkTalk Mail platform and you have set up password recovery options, that you recognise from the hints as your current recovery methods, you can send your alternate email address a link or your mobile a 6-digit code to authorise a password reset.
Let us know if you see the password recovery options other than sending a reset to the email address you need the password for.
Also let us know if you are not a TalkTalk Consumer home broadband customer or MailPlus subscription customer.
If you have been able to set a new password then test by signing in to TalkTalk Mail webmail.
Select here: Sign in to TalkTalk Mail
Enter your tiscali email address and new password, select Sign in.
