iPhone problem with Nildram

My Mail is not working on my iPhone. It works on my iPad. I get a message “Cannot Verify Server Details” The identity of “ cannot be verified by Mail.

When i press Details i get “ * Issued by Let’s Encrypt Authority X3. Not trusted Expires 02/12/2019 15:39.01

The iPhone is simply picking up the fact that the certificate is not in the name of nildram but in the name of that is authorised to host the domain. The iPhone is just being cautious but it is ok to trust this certificate. 


There are two fixes.

  1. Tap on the “Details” button shown in the error message
    On the Certificate screen, tap on the “Trust” link - if there is one
    (on current OS versions there is no “Trust” link)
  2. Remove the nildram account from the iPhone
    Settings > Accounts & Passwords > Select the account > Delete Account
    Ensure the outgoing nildram smtp server is deleted
    Add the mail account afresh
    Settings > Accounts & Passwords > Add Account > Other
    Best to use the manual setup process as the iPhones do not always get the settings right

During the add account process you'll have the opportunity to trust the server certificate when the settings are verified.
