Am I being blocked by my ISP?

Hi,

 

I was on the chat yesterday to ask why all of a sudden, in the last 10 days maybe, am I unable to access websites on my home network that I have accessed before.

Liveleak, best gore and not surprising porn are amongst these.

Spoke to the guy yesterday and he went through a list of things it could be like Kidsafe being on (it isn’t) and  scamsafe being on (it’s not).

I told him I also could not get Safesearch to go off on google and asked him if that was talk talk doing that? He said no, we can’t do that so the problem lies with Google.

But it turns out you can do that. Says in black and white in Google’s settings that if it won’t go off contact ISP.

Now I can access these sites with my phone data, TOR or proxies but I pay you lot for the connection and you have no right to set my router to tell me what I can watch. If I want to watch a guy getting crushed by a hydraulic press, then I will! 

I get home from a 8 day trip  on Friday but my nephews staying at mine so he’ll ket me know if it is fixed.

@OnTheDL  oce will help sort but if it a google search thing then it is google.

 

could u included where the issue is as in what comes up that blocks u as would help sort out the main line issue.

 

just take a screen shot of any thing that will help and click the photos icon at top by B / I / U 

 

A bite of info of Forum:

i have seen that and many more like it, thanks. I’ve tried everything and the only thing it can be now is TalkTalk.

i don’t know why suddenly do this now but if it doesn’t get fixed I’ll be going back to BT.

What actually happens when you try to access the websites? Do you get an error message? Do you get the HomeSafe landing page?

The results differ from saying there are NO matches for something X-rated. Just outright nothing.

if I try and get Liveleak (which is how I found out it) I get pages related to Liveleak, like their Twitter and Facebook accounts. Or links to their YouTube.

I can’t access my VPN account which I could do before. I get a message on screen saying they couldn’t determine the authenticity of the received data. And not contact Nord about it.

Now the thing is I can search successfully using Bing, yahoo and of course DuckDuckGo on my tor browser. I can’t access my vpn with bing or yahoo.........

I’ve spoke online with two staff members who basically ignored my answers to their questions and both started going through the motions of troubleshooting, even though I told them both I had tried everything like emptying cache, turning off hub for twenty minutes, making sure kidsafe was off as well as scam protection. I reinstalled Firefox too as a last gasp resort.
Now on google they have their SafeSearch that blocks anything that under 18’s shouldn’t see but every time I switched it off it’s still on when I come out of the settings!!
Google said that the only reason for that is my ISP has locked it.
I asked the two guys I spoke to if TalkTalk did or can do this the question was ignored. I asked again and it again was ignored by both. TT are saying it’s google and they are saying it’s TT.
It’s doing my head in
The first guy I spoke tried tried to charge me for someone to come and check it!!!

Anyway thats the story so far.
I have tor and the vpn on my phone and Mac so it’s not really affecting me really but there are three other people in my house and a neighbour that use it also so it needs to be fixed

i actually filled this in at 7:45pm tonight but it seems not to have been  sent.

So yeah I found my old TalkTalk router and plugged it in but no go on any internet activity at all. 

Is that because I am now on fibre and that router was for uhh not fibre!!

anyway, I’m not further forward with this wonderful problem. Have read loads of cases like mine and apparently this so called web blocking/filtering can be down to a whole range of things like your ISP doing it maybe a little over-aggressively on the top of their protection systems. Or Malware in router or computer, wrong settings somewhere, corrupted cookies and on and on.

i will call them tomorrow and see why their staff could not have explained it this way instead of ignoring my question.

Im up in 5 hours so I’m off.

Its 12:50 in the morning and I couldn’t sleep so I was just looking around my Google account, just aimlessly wandering around looking for a glimmer of hope.

And there is was, right in front of me. NO tick in the box next to Safesearch!!! It’s actually off!!

Maybe all my relentless sobbing did work afterall. What a great day, a great day indee............WAIT!!! Am I sleeping???

Had a family emergency so this took a back seat.

yes this got resolved just in time for my broadband to go bonkers and for line to be completely unstable.

 

Had to start new topic which is great.
