BTModem and Netgear Router

Hi

My speeds fluctuate and internet is not great upstairs. An Open Reach guy told me instead of changing provider get a new router.

I currently have the Talktalk HG635 router. So was thinking of getting a Netgear AX4 router (future proofing). Now from reading

past posts its seem difficult to bridge the HG635 (modem only) so was thinking of getting a BT-Openreach-ECI-Telecom-FOCuS-VDSL-FTTC-Fibre-Modem found on Ebay. Will this work with the Netgear router?

If it does work I have two questions.

1. Is it worth changing the router in the first place?

2. Is easy to change ie just plug it all in and off I go?

Hope someone can help.

You can use that setup, yes, but why not give the support team here the chance to see if they can help to improve things?

Thanks Ferguson

I was going on what the Openreach guy said. He mentioned the free routers that come from the internet providers were not great. But was hoping to upgrade to wifi6 (household of S10's). I dont think Talktalk supply a wifi6 router yet. But if so great.

You're right, there are no routers supporting Wi-Fi 6/802.11ax available from TalkTalk at present. So if that is the way you want to go you will need to do so independently.
