We are having an engineer visit to install faster 150 fibre.  What does this involve and how long will it take? Is it worth taking the day off from working from home or is it a quick job?

Thanks

Hi @Neilds every installation is different, the engineer should need absolute minimal input from you but your service will be down at least until the engineer has finished..

We already have talk talk broadband so wondered what extra work is involved

Hi @Neilds afraid I'm not an engineer so don't know. In the small print on this page https://www.talktalk.co.uk/shop/broadband/fibre it says 1to 2 hours.

You are making me jealous though!😂

Hi

He or she will fit a new g.fast socket to the wall and an openreach modem. Then go to the cabinet to connect you after that he will be back to do some checks. Just had mine done he was about an hour the cabinet is just around the corner. Now getting 152 down 29.6 up.

edit: Thanks Martswain got a bit carried away.

Thanks

Hope this helps

Hi @ifanyonecan great answer thanks for getting me out of trouble.

How are you enjoying the speed any unexpected benefits?

Tee-hee @martswain thats because it's so fast his head is spinning.

Good info for the op though.

Hi Divsec

Only advantage is speed was getting 72Mbps took 2mins 45sec to download 1gig now takes 1min 2sec. Grandson thinks it's great he did a speed check on his Nokia one phone and got 138Mbps so he's happy.

Only downside is having to have the openreach modem and Sagemcom hub just something else taking room up.
