He did visit first yes, to change the bt socket and plug the modem in

Thanks for confirming this. I've re-checked the connection stats and the line test is now detecting a possible fault towards the property and the sync speed has dropped. I can see that the line test was clear when we last checked this. I'm not sure if you have specifically changed the set up since then but if you have would it be possible to change it back so we can re-run the test again please?

No its back at the original setup / cables.

 

As soon as the new cable arrives tomorrow I'll connect it and reply to check then?

Speed test direct patched to modem now 102Mbps, so improved

Tests are still failing and showing a possible bridgetap within the wiring close or within the premises.

 

Next option is to arrange an engineer, would you like to proceed with this ?

Looking at the telephone cable coming to the house. It splits at the house , one end going to the master socket and the other to a socket in the bedroom (not used / previous owner)

Did you reply to @OCE_Karl's PM, @abntt7 ?

 

Sometimes it takes a day or two at the start of the week to catch up with the backlog from the end of the week before as well as the weekend.

 

Hopefully an OCE will let you know asap.

Update.

 

All sorted. 

Openreach engineer identified and fixed the fault.

Some old extensions outside that split off before the master socket. (a bridge-tap or star wiring he said)

Speeds instantly > 130Mbps, so happy
