I should be going live to a Faster Fibre upgrade on 06.02 . . . this in resolution to a Broadband package that had failed to live up to its guaranteed minimum download speed. The upgrade to Faster Fibre at £21.00 per month was offered by TalkTalk CEO Manager Ian Maciver in an effort to resolve the problems with the slow download speed and thus end the dispute.
However, in my "Your new and improved package" email, I noticed that I was going to be charged:
Faster Fibre - £23.50 a month.
TalkTalk TV - £4.00
Set-up Fee - £60.00
Strangely there was no mention of the £21.00/18 month contract and where did £4.00 for TV and £60.00 setup fee come from?
Obviously TalkTalk was talking but no one else had been listening.
I now seriously question if it's worth another trip down the rabbit hole into the TalkTalk fantasy world, or should I quit while I'm still sane.
I had also considered adding TalkTalk TV to the new package but became lost in the convoluted options. Apparently the £4.00 monthly charge doesn't actually provide any TV . . . it just 'enables' access to various TV packages - for which there's an additional payment . . . forgive me if I have that wrong.
Any help or clarification appreciated . . . especially the requirement to have a TV aerial. Surely if I had TalkTalk TV I would nolonger require a TV aerial.
I have asked one of TalkTalk's OCEs to pick your thread up and investigate it for you.
The forum is not real-time 24/7 support, so depending on how busy they are & how many are working at any one time, this can take 24 - 48 hrs (excluding weekends & limited cover on Bank Holidays). Alternatively, you can call the call centre or use online chat. The posts are responded to in time/date order, oldest first. So the fewer entries you make on your thread now, the sooner they will pick it up.
To save yourself time, please make sure that your community profile includes your first & last names, broadband phone number & if possible an alternative contact number. This can be done by clicking on your Avatar picture then click on "My Settings" followed by:-
Personal Profile > Personal Information
Otherwise, TalkTalk will not be able to tie up your forum username to your broadband account. Only you & TalkTalk have visibility of your details.

I would advise that you recontact your complaint manager if the order placed is not what you agreed, you should have his contact details. The order is progressing for the 6th of Feb.
In relation to the TV setup, A TV arial is required for free view channels, The TV charge allows you to access TalkTalk TV services and add boost channels.

What I don't get (understand) is the £4 charge for TalkTalk TV . . . because it would appear to be a £4 charge for nothing.
I already have access to FreeView, which by the very name is free via my TV aerial.
It would appear that the £4 is purely a charge to be able to access TV Boosts, Netflix and BT Sport (all available at an additional cost) and any 'on demand' content (also at at an additional cost depending on package) . . . for which shall also need a TalkTalk TV Box.
However the TalkTalk TV Box costs an additional £6 per month.
Therefore the charge for TalkTalk TV is actually £10 per month PLUS the cost of the package I wish to receive.
Is this correct ?
The TV charge is for access to all TalkTalk TV Services, not for access to services provided by others, Netflix, BT, Now TV etc.

Just to update everyone - I did successully go live with Faster Fibre on 6th February 2019 after an upgrade from a very slow Broadband package - I got 2.6Mbps - Guaranteed was 4.4Mbps.
Now I'm with Faster Fibre, history repeats itself - I get 30Mbps - Guaranteed was 36Mbps.
I actually wanted to add TV, but it would appear that the £4/month is purely a charge to be able to 'access' TV Boosts, Netflix and BT Sport (all individually available at additional cost) plus any 'on demand' content (also at at an additional cost/month depending on choice of TV package) . . . in addition, I would also need the TalkTalk TV Box.
However the TalkTalk TV Box costs an extra £6/month.
Therefore the charge for TalkTalk TV is actually £10/month PLUS the additional cost of the TV package. Which means it costs £10/month before I even get to see a single pixle.
TalkTalk TV is advertised for £4/month and I believed it.
I really had to drill down into small print in order to discover the true cost.
