BT Openreach engineer has been and has said that the port at the cabinet may need something done to it, I have no idea what else he has done but speeds are on the rise finally.
Downstream is now sitting at 39mbps
Upload is currently sitting at between 10.98 to 11.76mbps
This is fantastic as originally before the issue arose I was only getting 7mbps upload so a significant bump in the upload speed is very much appreciated.
He mentioned I should contact you guys to now set my profile over to a fast profile for higher speeds as he has confirmed the line can handle much higher than the current speedtest is showing, And that we are no more than 500 metres from the Cabinet.
He did also mention that the router we have is quite old and may be causing some of our issues.
So with that I would like to request a new high speed 4 port router ( with 4 LAN ports on the rear for multiple devices to be hardwired to the router )
It's been ok really.
A couple of speed drops but rebooting the router brought it back up.
I would still like to be put on a faster profile and would still like to have a new router as requested in the post above
I used to have a D-Link quite some time ago and that was a decent router but it ultimately gave up the ghost.
So that would be appreciated 🙂
I see from posts here on the community forum that both of these routers give slow speeds due to the lack of the 1GBPS maximum supported, do you not have any other routers?
We only provide the HG633 and DSL3782 routers at present.
The replacement router (DSL3782) is on its way, please allow 24-48hrs for this to arrive.
Let us know how the connection compares with this router.
The connection had gotten better ( mid 30's to early 40's ) but the downstream is below expected again ( back down to mid 20's )
Please fix this.
I'm sorry to hear this. I've run a test on the line which has detected a potential fault and the connection looks unstable. Are you experiencing any issues with the voice service such as noise on the line or no dial tone?
Once we've confirmed this then we can pass this over to our Network Team for further investigation.
I've raised this to our network team for further investigation, can you bump the thread in 48 hours and we'll check for updates (yes, it will probably need another engineer visit but we'll wait to see what the network team say)
I've asked our network team for an update, if you don't hear anything later today can you bump the thread again tomorrow and we'll check for updates
I've received confirmation that this has now been logged out to BT Openreach for further investigation. It can take up to 72 hours before we receive an update so if you don't hear anything beforehand can you bump the thread on Thursday and we'll check for updates
Just a little update again, Speeds are still slowing down on the down sync, Currently at 20.88mbps, Previously after the last engineer visit it was 39mbps and has been dropping in speed as time goes by.
Also, Ping seems to have increased which is a bit of an annoyance as having a lower ping would benefit as I online game of an evening.
Also one more thing, How would I go about renewing my ip address with the DSL3782 router?
Also for some strange reason a few minutes ago there was no dial tone on the landline and no lights came on for the internet connection.
No idea what was done but speeds have just gone up as a result of whatever was being done either at your end or BT's end.
Speedtest.net currently showing down speed of : 33.30mbps and an upspeed of 13.20

Complete dropout again twice, Now sync speeds dropping off again.
Down 19.14mbps / up 9.11 mbps
I'll keep editing this post with updates rather than continuously posting new replies
Another dropout completely but after rebooting the router following a resync at 20xxxkbps down, Resync is now at
upstream 13176 kbps / downstream 39809 kbps
up and down really Chris.
Connection completely drops out and returns some time later.
I'm guessing it's DLM trying to find a good point between stability and speed
It did drop just before I went to reply to this thread so I have no idea why it's dropping if BT did some work
Just dropped out again 😞
Yeah it just dropped again.
Sync isn't staying up very long at all at the moment, I'm getting 5-10 minutes of connection before sync is lost, Sometimes not even getting 5 minutes of uptime before sync drops.
