Hello Nerds and Nerdlings,

Online Gaming currently makes me sad, i'm hoping this screenshot provides possible insight into the issues i'm having. (rubberbanding, no hit registration, warping, etc.)

Any help, advice or technical tips are most welcome.

The target ip address is currently the most used server i connect to when playing BattleField 5.

Thank you for reading 🙂

Hi Alex Z,

The line test is clear and the connection stats also look ok. Are you connected wired or wireless?

Thanks

Team Player

Hi Michelle,

I'm connected via a LAN cable to the router.

(i also did this test on my laptop which is running windows 10 via Wireless, and the results are still the same, sadly.)

Hi Michelle,

I'm not sure if this screen shot is helpful in anyway, but this route and these hops to www.vodafone.de are perfect. Perfect amount of MOS, Jitter, packetloss and very acceptable error count too.

If only some how i could take a similar route to the game servers, although this may be impossible! ha. 🙂

Hi Alex Z,

Ok thanks. Is it only this particular game that is experiencing the issue? Does it happen at all times or at certain times of the day? Has this previously worked ok?

Could you run a wired ping and trace route the next time this happen and post the results into the thread please.

Run a Ping or Traceroute

Thanks

Hi Michelle,

No this particular issue always arises when i travel through ae66.edge6.London1.Level3.net - 212.187.165.173 - no matter if it's a game server, webpage or FTP. It's evil!

It always happens and it has never worked correctly. 100% of the time.

As requested here are x3 of each, Ping and Route test results.

( I guess my PingPlotter screenshots are not acceptable 😄 )

Hi Alex Z,

I'm sorry for the delay. Could you post the results into the thread as plain text so that I can pass this over to our Network Team for further investigation as I can't copy the image. Could I also just confirm if the overall connection is also ok such as browsing/streaming/etc? It's only still gaming which is affected? Is the speed also ok if you run a speed test at the same time?

Thanks

Hi Michelle,

I hope you had a nice weekend and i thank you for your on going perseverance into my current issue, it's greatly appreciated!

My overall connection seems perfect, browsing webpages or streaming from sites like YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime etc are fine. I experience no problems with anything that has a chance to buffer the data.

Anything Real-Time like Online gaming, VoIP or even some Live Video Streaming does breakdown and suffer IF i travel through certain hops like the one i'm currently experiencing with - ae66.edge6.London1.Level3.net - 212.187.165.173 - ( hop 6 )

I'm not sure if the hops aferwards are directly related or they are also an isolated problem?

- 4.69.167.228 - ( hop 7 and 8 )

I've just noticed my route travels through this particular hop twice, i have never ever seen that before.

Hi Alex Z,

Thanks, the 2nd hop doesn't look right. Just to confirm, have you made any changes to any settings in the router? Are you using a TalkTalk router?

Thanks

Team Player

Hi Michelle,

I was forced to do a hard reset (small little pin hole button) on the router itself after it stopped responding a few weeks ago, but i am indeed using the TALK TALK router. Do you think i may need a replacement?

thanks,

Alex.

Community Team - TT Staff

Hi @Alex Z

We can try a replacement, I will send a new one and a returns bag,

Should be with you in a few days.

Hi Arne, Hi Michelle

This is my trace route to vodafone.de. I have no problems at all with these hops, everything is perfect. MOS (Mean opinion score) is perfect, a total of 4.4. Jitter is also perfect, a total of 1. Packetloss is also fine, a total of 0%. ( in my experience it's usually fine to ignore packetloss that doesn't fluctuate away from either 0% or 100% )

These are the things i look for when checking the quality of a route as they are absolutely vital for a good online gaming experience.

Based on these results and my understanding, my hardware is working perfectly. But if a new Talk Talk router is needed for whatever reason then i'm happy to oblige.

Thanks again for your time and efforts into my issue.

Hi Alex Z,

Thanks, it would be worth trying the replacement router and if there is no improvement then we can pass this straight over for investigation.

Thanks
