I’m migrating to talk talk on Monday. My router I’ve given to my sister in law as there one blew up via a lightning strike and I have no use as will be using my own setup. Do I need the original modem to activate or once my current vdsl service goes down just change from PPoe to dynamic ip and should all work ok?  Fingers cross it all works out to plan on Monday.

Do you mean a DSL-AC68U modem/router? In which case yes, you should be good to go by changing the connection type as you suggest. It may be that your device has pre-configured settings for TalkTalk, if not the other basic settings can be found here:

Yes it’s a dsl ac68 but will be using lan1 as wan port with openreach modem as sync speed with ASUS router is shocking really. A good 10mbs less than than my Plusnet hub. The hub one gives 60mbs and ASUS at 3SNR gave 51mbs if lucky.  Fingers cross it all pans out.
