Hi pentham,

Just a quick update, this has been logged out to Openreach as a non-appointment task. I'll check for an update later

Hi pentham,

This is now showing in status fixed/closed. Could you switch your router off for 30 minutes then switch back on and retest - please let us know how you get on

Hi pentham,

Thanks, could you run a wired speed test using the TalkTalk Speed Tester so we can see how the throughput speed compares to the sync speed.

Thanks

The speed to your device is 31.2 Mbps

Unfortunately our test is not returning enough data to pinpoint any problem.
If you're expecting faster speeds, our Top Tips may be able to help.

Hi pentham,

Thanks for running the test. What speeds were you receiving prior to the speed drop?

Thanks

For the first week with the new router, average down speed was 37mbps.

Hi pentham,

Ok thanks for letting me know. If the connection remains stable then hopefully DLM will increase the sync speed over the next 24-48hrs. Could you bump your thread (request an update) on Friday and we can re-check the connection stats again.

Thanks

We tried that, last week.
TalkTalk could offer me a free speed boost to get me to the minimum guaranteed speed 🙄
Community Team

Hi pentham,

The speed boost just removes the 40Mbps cap so unfortunately it won't improve your speed

Hi Chris

Thanks for the info.
Openreach recent verdict was that all tests revealed zero faults. Sync speed was optimised. The speed I obtain is the best achievable as I have 350 to 400 mtrs of copper from cabinet to router.
Until Openreach upgrade to FTTH (for my location, could be quite a few years away) I don't anticipate any improvement in speed.
Community Team

Hi pentham,

Thanks for the additional information. Apart from the speed, are you experiencing any issues with the performance of the connection or is this ok?

Thanks

Hi pentham

Your line is in sync at 32.9mb.

What speed are you now receiving when running a speed test?

Thanks

Debbie

Hi Debbie

Over cable......31 down

Hi pentham

The throughput speed (speed test) looks good based upon the sync speed.

Thanks

Hi Debbie
Yes, it's the best we can achieve, over approx 400 mtrs of copper cable to the Openreach cabinet.
I accidentally switched off the router whilst removing a ethernet cable after the test.
Now the router is synching at...
30.8 down
10 up
🙄

I guess auto DLM will sort that out 😟
Community Team

Hi pentham

DLM should change the profile again if the connection remains stable.

Thanks

Debbie
