Every year my connection is guaranteed to slow down. every year. look at my post history. happens every year without fail.

Currently paying for up to 80Mbps.

Link speed at router is normally 78Mbps when stable.

Currently at 26Mbps at the router with telephone line crackles.

obviously not happy with that when i'm paying for top speeds.

A. can someone please look into this for me? Thank you

B. why does it keep happening?

thanks.

Repeated issues with crackling on the line could conceivably be weather related. If you have a test socket make sure that your equipment is connected there while you wait for the support team to run their tests and wait for them to respond.

Hi op2097,

I'm sorry to hear this and I'll take a look now. I've run a test on the line which has detected a potential fault. Does your master socket have a test socket?

Is the noise/crackling present at the test/master socket with 2 different handsets, including a corded phone, and with all other equipment removed from the line? As soon as we have confirmed this then we can ask our Network Team to take a look.

Thanks

Hi Michelle

Yes noise remains in the master socket. Speed remains slow.

Thanks

Hi @op2097

We have requested an engineer to go out to the exchange in the next 48 hours.

We can check the fault ticket on Wednesday for an update

Hi, openreach went to check on the line. phone line is now crackle free.

speed to router from outside was 39mbps, up from 24 the day before. Today its dropped to 36mbps. I'm paying for up to 80. as said, previously I had a solid 78mbps connection.

I don't want to be paying more money for a faster connection when I'm not receiving one.

Something still isn't right.

what can be done?

thanks
