Hi Father Cool

Just to confirm, does this fault occur with both the HG633 and DSL3782 routers?

Thanks

Debbie

Hi Debbie,

Yes it does. Although I haven't tried the DSL8732 with a wired connection.

The downstream rate always seems to stay ok.

Hi Father Cool

Do you still have the DSL3782 router?

I can try and send a HG635 router, would you like me to arrange this?

Thanks

Debbie

Hi Father Cool

Thanks, would it be possible to test with this router again? (using the wired speed test when the speed drops)

I will test it this week and get back to you.

Ok well tried the other router and no joy. It still runs like garbage.

I routinely now have sub 5mb/s internet. It's worse than when I was on standard broadband. I am at the end of my tether with it.

Hi Father Cool

I'm sorry to hear this.

I've checked the connection stats and your line is showing in sync at 28.5mb. Are you running a wired speed test?

If you reboot the router does the speed increase again?

Thanks

Debbie

Hi Debbie,

The sync speed always seems to stay fine and the upload speed is always very good and consistent too at around 3 to 4mb/s. This is why I suspect a router issue.

I have tested wired and wireless and it is exactly the same.

It I reboot I get good speeds again but these gradually tail off after a few hours, sometimes minutes.

Hi Father Cool

Thanks for your reply.

To confirm, the exact same issue happens with both the DSL3782 and HG633 routers?

Yes it does.

Not sure what else to do.

Hi Father Cool

Have you ever had a TalkTalk engineer visit?

Thanks

I've had an OR engineer yes on 3 previous occations. Each time no issues. The last time he came him fitted a new socket and replaced the external phone line cable into the house.

Community Team

Hi Father Cool

The TalkTalk engineer would focus more on the throughput speeds as the speed increases following a reboot of the router.

Thanks

Why have I not been offered this before?

Community Team

Hi Father Cool

Apologies, we would usually suggest this on the Community if all testing has been completed and if the fault appears to be a throughput issue rather than a sync speed issue.

Phone and broadband service visit

Thanks

Debbie

I see. Well this has gone around the merry go round since I signed up for fibre a couple of years ago with no solution ever found.
