Super fast Fibre equipment arriving but another 9 days until engineer

I upgraded to Superfast Fibre and booked the earliest Free engineer for the 16th, but the equipment is arriving today. If I can install it myself, do I still need the engineer?

Got my own answer when the equipment arrived. The engineer has to bring an Openreach modern...and there was me thinking the days of modems was over. Now the boxes is just sitting there tempting me. Doh!

Yes that's correct. If this was a standard fibre connection then you could just connect up the router yourself.
