Now it is

46.3
46.3
using https://www.talktalk.co.uk/speedcheck/

Edited Saturday 26th:

38.5

37.9

40.8

Reading in another topic that one could look in https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome to get an indication of the maximum speeds that BT thinks your phone line could support, I tried that, but our address was not recognised

If the telephone line is not capable of taking the boost, I was wondering if there is any point in having the boost?
Speeds just now:

Hi JDean16

Apologies for the delay.

I've checked the connection stats and your line is in sync at 70mb.

Were these wired or wireless speed tests?

Thanks

Whizz Kid

Thank you.
"connection stats and your line is in sync at 70mb" do not mean anything to me, not being technical, sorry.

As before, wireless speed tests: one printer and two laptops. We would not know how to do a speed test otherwise; and we need the wireless connection.

Hi JDean16

Please can you power down your router for a full 30 minutes and then run another speed test once the router has been switched back on?

Thanks

Debbie

Yes, we shall do that later today when we do not need to use the internet.

To make sure we are doing the right thing, when you say "power down your router",  you do mean switch it off temporarily, don't you?

Hi JDean16

Thank you. Yes please can you just switch off the router at the wall for a full 30 minutes.

Hi JDean16

I would expect to see faster speeds based upon your sync speed. Did you run the speed test on a phone or laptop?

Thanks

Debbie

We only have a pay as you go mobile; not high tech elderlies 🙂
We did it on a laptop. It's good that we no longer have to go in the garage since we moved the router ourselves indoors.
44.6 now. It's a good speed in my opinion, but not what was minimum guaranteed.

JDean16

48.8 - nearly "minimum guaranteed download speed is <49.3> Mbps."
It's reached it 🙂 49.7.
50.9.

Hi JDean16,

When you tested the speed on the laptop was this a wireless or wired speed test?

Thanks

JDean16
Whizz Kid

Thank you.

It has always been wireless. I would not know how to do it any other way.

Hi,

Thanks for confirming. Have you tried a few different wireless channels and also tried separating the SSID's? I've included a few Help Articles below.

Change your wireless channel

Split your router's SSID (wireless network name)

Thanks

Thank you.
It looks too complicated for us. We would not want to mess things up.

The speeds are a lot better than they were before 18th September.

https://www.talktalk.co.uk/speedcheck/  We've finished measuring your speed, and here are your results.

48.4 Mbps

Hi,

Can I just confirm, is everything ok with the overall performance of the connection and you're not experiencing slow webpages or any issues streaming?

Thanks

JDean16
Whizz Kid
Thank you.

Everything had been ok with the overall performance of the connection - until this afternoon when, for no apparent reason, the internet  disconnected briefly a few times.

We have not experienced slow webpages and I do not know anything about streaming.

Hi JDean16

Apologies for the delay.

The line test is clear. How has the connection been since your last post?

Thanks
