VDSL2 slower since I moved closer to the exchange

Hi,

I used to live 1 mile from the exchange. I recently moved house, to 0.5 miles from the exchange. But my internet speed has halved! This is becuase my Fibre cabinet is closer to my old house, and now further away from my new house :-( Can TalkTalk move my VDSL2 to connect to a closer cabinet or directly to the exchange?

Insightful One
Probably not.
The cabinet your are connected to will provide services to defined properties and unless a new cabinet is installed for extra capacity AND OPEN REACH decide to move you, then you are stuck with what you have.

Thanks. Is there a way of requesting cabinet moves?

Hi j0nbinnie,

Your sync speed is outside of your predicted range. Do you know that there's a nearer cabinet to your home than the one that you're connected too?

Not sure there is a brown cabinet on the street but I don't know if it's fttc. The exchange is closer (under 0.5 mile) than the fttc cabinet!

Hi j0nbinnie,

Your speed is outside the predicted range so we can try to improve that for you.

How many telephone sockets do you have? What other devices do you have connected in addition to your router?

Does your master socket have a Test Socket

Are you experiencing any problems with your telephone service such as noise on the line?

Thanks
Chris

Hi,

Yes my router is connected to my master socket. It has a vdsl faceplate which my router is directly connected to. I only have a phone connected via an extension on the same line. What is my expected sync speed? Should I get an engineer visit?

Many thanks!

Hi,

My router has been turned off a few times and the sync speed has now dropped to 13Mps and 6Mbps up. Details below.

Can you able to reset my profile so the DSLAM resets my sync speed?

Hi Jon,

Sorry, we can't reset DLM without arranging an engineer visit. Are you experiencing any problems with your telephone service such as noise on the line?

Hi,

Yes I do have noise on my phone line. It has a crackling background noise. An engineer visit would be awesome. Thanks!

Hi j0nbinnie

Line tests are not picked up a fault, but ill log this to our network team.

If Our network team need access times and dates to arrange an engineer, can you read and understand the following Engineer charges help page you will need to agree to this to allow us to book this.

Then if you can send me via a Private message on the community with the best available dates and times for you, Monday to Friday, either AM (8am tilll 1pm) or PM (1pm till 6pm) for the visit we will book this.

Thanks
