 Please Help.

Router is connected directly to 5C integrated filter master socket.

There is no 'crackling' noise on land line ring tone.

Router was recently switched off for 30 minutes and restarted.

are you doing the test thru WiFi? Any chance that you can try to do a wired speed test to see if this is something that is being caused by WiFi interference.

The data recently posted is the xDSI line speed copied from the router settings, and is not the wifi speed.

Hi pentham,

I've run a test on the line which hasn't detected a fault, however I can see that DLM has increased the sync speed over the last 24hrs. Have you seen an increase in speed since your last post?

Thanks

Thanks for reply OCE Michelle

Yes,

I'm still below 'mimimum guaranteed'

I do have  500 mtrs of copper between my talktalk router and fibre cabinet which is not TalkTalk's responsibility. Will just have to wait until FTTH, and living in a backward British economy, that could be well after I'm toast!

Hi pentham,

Thanks for confirming, Does your master socket have a test socket? If it does then it may be worth testing the router directly at the test socket for at least 48hrs to see if DLM increases the sync speed any further.

Thanks

Hi Michelle

Thanks for swift replies

Yes I do have a test socket (master socket 5c mk4) I have followed your advice and wifi hub is now connected via test socket (through a filter ofcourse)

Thanks

Hi pentham,

Thanks for confirming. Would it be possible to keep the router connected to the test socket for the next 48hrs so we can see if DLM makes any changes to the sync speed?

Thanks

Hi Michelle

Yes, connection will be maintained for 48 hours or more.

20 hour's so far, and DLM has made no change.

Thanks

Hi pentham,

Thank you for confirming. Please could you post back here on Thursday and we can re-check the connection stats again.

Thanks

Hi pentham,

Thanks for bumping your thread. The line test is still clear, however I can see that DLM hasn't made any further changes to the speed. How have you found the overall performance of the connection since your last post?

Thanks

Hi Michelle

Thanks for reply

I have found my connection stable at 20Mbps down and 7.2Mbps up, since I carried out a 30minute reset at the start of my post here

I do have approx 550-600 mtrs of copper between my router and fibre cabinet.

Thanks.

Hi pentham

I've checked the connection stats and your line is in sync at 20mb.

Would you like me to arrange an Openreach engineer visit?

Thanks

Debbie

DLM has increased speed slightly.

I'm not sure how the router calculates the 'Maximum Rate' do you?

Hi pentham,

Glad to hear that your speed has improved. Sorry, I don't know how the router calculates the maximum rate, the maximum rate isn't really something that we ever look at

Hi
My down speed dropped to 16kbps so I switched wifi hub off for over 30 mins. and its now 25kbps. DLM will no doubt kick in and give me erratic down speeds again.
I'm really not convinced of DLM technology.

Hi pentham

Apologies for the delay.

I've checked the connection stats and your line is in sync at 27.4mb.

What speed are you now receiving when running speed tests?

Thanks

Hi Debbie

Thanks for reply

Over wifi right next to router.......

It does make a huge difference switching router off for over 30 mins. Ive done this twice in one month though.  I am not convinced of DLM .technology.

Hi pentham,

DLM does now see to be moving you to increasingly faster profiles so your connection stats must have improved. Could you bump the thread in a couple of days and we'll see if there have been any further improvements
