Hi,

I've been your customer for more than 2 years now. I moved to Birmingham from London two months ago and since then my connection speed dropped drastically! My area is covered by your service so I don't understand why this happend. I pay to get 76mb and your collegue in the customer service was not very helpful with my issue.
I am really fed up with this situation as I can't even stream Netflix...

My PC is connected with ethernet cable and these are the results:

I have merged your topics. It looks from your router stats that you may not benefit from the Fibre Speed Boost, this will only be of any use if your sync rate is significantly above the base rate of 38Mbps which yours isn't on the information you have posted, although the downstream SNR is quite high so there may be an issue there.

If you would like the online support team to look into this for you make sure that your personal details including TalkTalk landline number are complete on your community profile here so that they can link your forum identity with your account and then give them a day or two to respond.

Thank you for your reply ferguson. I completed my online profile with all the details. Hope the online support team can find a solution soon.
Do you need any other information about the router to help me with my issue?

Not about the router itself no, but: is the router connected at the master socket; do you have any telephone extensions in your home; and are you aware of any noise on the voice service at all?

RinRin

The router is connected to master socket which is upstairs. There is one extention downstairs where the telephone is connected. There are filters in both sockets. The voice service works fine and clear.

Does the master socket have a test socket? If so try connecting the router there and see if it makes any difference to the connection speed. If not, unplug everyting from the extension socket and reboot the router, see if that helps.

Hi RinRin

Apologies for the delay.

I've completed a line test which hasn't detected any faults and your line is in sync at 25mb. There are re connections showing on the line which can affect the sync speed. Is the connection dropping or has the router been rebooted?

It would be worth leaving the router connected at the test socket for at least 48hrs without rebooting, to see if DLM makes any changes to the line profile.

Thanks

Debbie

@ferguson Yes the master socket has a test socket and I tried few days ago to connect my router to it. The speed was low as always :(

@OCE_Debbie Sometimes my router reboots alone and I get disconnected. I'll keep the router connected to the test socket for 48hours then. This situation is really frustrating, if one device is connected to internet the other one struggle even to load a simple image.

I would persevere, internal wiring can absolutely kick out your broadband performance. The ideal situation is one master socket with nothing else connected to it, extensions are evil!

Hi RinRin,

Thanks for the update. I've re-checked the connection stats and I can still see a few re-connection so I've updated the router firmware.

Could you retest and let us know if there are any improvements in stability following this.

Thanks

Hi RinRin,

DLM will only increase the sync speed if the connection remains stable. Could you let us know if there is any improvement in stability over the next 24hrs following the FW update.

If the connection remains stable then DLM should start to increase the sync speed.

Is the router still connected at the test socket at the moment?

Thanks

RinRin

Yes, the router is still connected to the test socket. I kept it like this for more than 48 hours.

Community Team

Hi RinRin,

Ok thanks for confirming this and let us know how the stability compares over the next 24hrs.

Thanks

I didn't get any disconnections in the last 24 hours. The router is still connected to the test socket. Can you now try to improve my speed, please? Seems it's getting slow and slow...

Hi RinRin

I can still see re connections on the line. I can send a replacement router for testing, would you like me to arrange this?

Thanks

Debbie

@OCE_Debbie Is it free of charges? If so could you arrange it please?

Community Team

Hi

A new router is on the way for testing.

This should arrive in the next 24-48 working hours.

Thanks

Karl.
