Why need Engineer visit?

At a loss why an engineer visit is needed Never had this swapping ADSL and VDSL ISPs in the past. Doubly odd as I'm moving from First Utility VDSL (who use TT) to TT.

To save yourself time, please make sure that your community profile includes your first & last names, broadband phone number & if possible an alternative contact number. This can be done by clicking on your Avatar picture then click on "My Settings" followed by:- Personal Profile > Personal Information

Otherwise, TalkTalk will not be able to tie up your forum username to your broadband account. Only you & TalkTalk have visibility of your details.

 

It could be a change at the green box in road. or something else.

 

Can i ask did u have Fibre before with First Utility???

 

a bite more info might help out more with why???

VDSL = FTTC = "fibre" 

 

First utility 40Mbps  -> TT 65 ISH Mbps

 

No change to cabinet or wiring required as in essence I'm only changing speed not provider.

@zofbtb sometimes it is down to a set up but talktalk should be able to tell u later this week why.

 

Do u have one booked yet as they would have told u why when booking one???

Yes, engineer coming on 8th (2 days after First Utility ends). They couldn't tell me why it was necessary.

@zofbtb  i will now wiat for a OCE to reply and see if they can tell u why as they have access to ur account on their system.

 

Might be some notes on the visit.

Had the visit yesterday while I was at work (wife at home). Seems like the visit was just to test the socket after the changes in the cabinet were done.

Yes, all fine but would like old phone number back and it is only syncing at 40Mbps - see my other posts
