WiFi Hub Firmware update requested

Recently my connection speeds using the HG633 router have increased from around 27Mbps to 30Mbps (good!!), however this has brought some instability with the single stream download speeds dropping every few hours to almost zero requiring a router reboot which cures the problem (bad!!)    I have now just reinstalled my WiFi Hub which I bought some time ago but which had a number of problems so I reverted back to the HG633.  My WiFi hub is version SG4K10001400t and I understand there have been a number of updates since then, so please can you update the firmware to the latest version so I can see if the issues I experienced previously have now been resolved.  

 

In particular is there now any way to override the DHCP to manually assign IP addresses to certain devices while leaving others to automatically acquire IP address via DHCP?

Yes DHCP reserved IP addressing is available in the current firmware. I have asked one of TalkTalk's OCEs to pick your thread up and upgrade it for you.

The forum is not real-time 24/7 support, so depending on how busy they are & how many are working at any one time, this can take 24 - 48 hrs (excluding weekends & limited cover on Bank Holidays). Alternatively, you can call the call centre or use online chat. The posts are responded to in time/date order, oldest first. So the fewer entries you make on your thread now, the sooner they will pick it up.

To save yourself time, please make sure that your community profile includes your first & last names, broadband phone number & if possible an alternative contact number. This can be done by clicking on your Avatar picture then click on "My Settings" followed by:-

Personal Profile > Personal Information

Otherwise, TalkTalk will not be able to tie up your forum username to your broadband account. Only you & TalkTalk have visibility of your details.

I've checked and the router currently has the latest version of firmware. Is the connection ok at the moment?

Hi - the router has been updated over night and is now on 2600t.  It seems to be working OK and the IP reservation is working, however the download connection speed has dropped from 29.9mbps to 27.5mbps.   Is  that something to be expected with this version of the firmware?  is there any tuning that can be done to get it back up to where it was?

Thanks for confirming this. It's possible that DLM may increase the sync speed again over the next 24-48hrs. Could you bump your thread on Friday and we can re-check the connection stats again to see how it compares.

The router was restarted remotely on Wednesday night and has now been up for 1d 7hr.  The connection is totally stable and all issues I experienced with the earlier firmware have been eliminated.  One big improvement is the ability to download while uploading a large file at full speed which the HG633 could never manage to do.  I have lost about 2 Mbps download speed compared to the HG633 and gained about 800kpbps upload speed compared to HG633, but with much better stability.

The current sync is at 25.9mb   

 

Estimated speeds for your line are 22 - 33mb so the line is performing as expected.
