Anyone suggest an alternative fibre 150 ADSL/wifi router?

Hi,

I have fibre 150 installed and have the standard talktalk WiFi router which is connected to the BT fibre 150 modem

The WiFi in the house is not great and does drop, we have multiple phones, tablets, Sonos speakers etc

I know ASUS make specific gfast(fibre 150) specific combined adsl modem/WiFi hubs but can anyone suggest others?

I’ve read lots of reviews and they seems sporadic and non really stand out.l and it seems a minefield.

Besides having better WiFi I like the idea of taking the BT gfast modem

out of the equation and plugging straight into the new modem aswell.

thanks

What you could do to get all round wide wifi is maybe use some spare old routers (or buy newer ones) and have these others in bridge-mode. I have a total of 3 routers dotted round my house the 2 slave routers are fed by cat5e cable external from main No 1 router. All have different sidd names also 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz chs. all have different names but all same Password. It seems to work great coverage all round the house and garden are good with no black spots

Cheers all, out of interest our house has no physical barriers to male the WiFi signal worse, so what ‘tweaking’ can be done with the existing talktalk router.

Cheers

OK, it's entirely up to you. But do bear in mind that no two domestic setups are alike. Please let us know how you get on.

@valleyboy1975 Rather than searching in a very narrow and largely unproven market perhaps you could look at simply trying to improve your wifi performance? Which TalkTalk router do you have? Both Hub models are quite capable devices with a bit of fine tuning. Or if your property poses specific issues there are other ways of improving coverage.

Make sure you search specifically for G.Fast compatible modem/routers, which are few and far between at the moment. Many of those listed as simply fibre/VDSL will be like the TalkTalk model and require an external modem.

@valleyboy1975 it really comes down to your budget and the functionality you want.  I suggest you look at some of the online review sites, eg:

https://levvvel.com/best-fiber-optic-modem-router/

https://www.expertreviews.co.uk/networks/wireless-routers/1403819/best-wireless-routers-improve-your...

https://www.lifewire.com/best-cable-modem-router-combos-to-buy-4082541

These tend to restrict themselves to consumer products.  In addition there are more business focused products from companies like Billion and Draytek.  Finally Fritzbox which is used by the ISP Zen is worth a look.
