Fibre 65? I'm lucky if I get 6.5

According to the BBC, the average broadband speed in the UK is 64Mbps - an increase of 18% during lockdown, despite what one might have expected. Why then, do I struggle to get 1/10th of that? When I perform the online speed test, my results are on average around 4-5 Mbps - well below the "guaranteed" ~30Mbps (which I would be happy with, despite being 1/2 the national average).

I have 3 children at home trying to access online learning, but I have to decide who gets their lessong because I can only effectively have 1 child online at a time - not to mention I have to use my mobile data for work, at great extra cost.

I am at a loss for what to do to resolve this. My account online describes my internet performance is "poor" but as yet, customer support has not been able to anything beyond offer generic advice.Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Thank you. I can see that a possible line fault has been detected and this has been passed to Openreach for further investigation. If you don't hear anymore over the next 48hrs then please let us know and we can re-check for an update on the fault for you.

Thanks

Hi Dasloosh,

Can you please update your community profile to include your:

  • Name
  • Telephone number
  • Alternative contact number

We'll then look into this further. Please do not post this information on this thread. Once you've updated your profile please post in your topic to confirm it's updated.

Thanks
