Fibre speeds significantly below 'promised' values

Morning,

Upgraded to fibre at the beginning of this year and initially the speeds were OK (around 36 down) However these speeds have dropped to close to what I was getting on ADSL, at best 26 down and at worst 20 down. Checking back at my speed test results shows a slow decline in speeds over the time I have had fibre. I am using the same HG633 router that I was using on ADSL and have carried out all the required troubleshooting steps, these tests are all carried out on a wired connection with all other devices off.

The most recent test I carried out was on the talk talk site which quoted my speed at 37 down, but on my router itself it quoted 27 down. There clearly is a problem somewhere along the line.

Could someone take a look at this for me please? Below is a tracert which may (or may not) shed some light on where the problem lies.

Regards

Hello,

Thank you for your response.

The routers uptime is currently showing as 2 days 7 minutes. The last reboot was when I swapped the microfilter to see if that would have an effect. I unfortunately do not have a test socket, the router is directly connected to the only phone socket in the flat.

Given my connection is in sync at 28mb, then that is a rather large problem given my quoted speed to be 39-40mb, what can be done to rectify this?

Hi jadedfett

I'm sorry to hear this.

I've completed a line test which hasn't detected any faults and your line is in sync at 28.6mb.

There are some re connections showing on the line and this can affect the sync speed. Is the connection dropping or has the router been rebooted?

Is the router currently connected at the test socket?

Thanks

Debbie
