Hi

 

I posted this in the Broadband section which may have been the wrong category (and was marked as spam and doesn't appear to be visible anymore, which I'm confused about but may have been if I'd posted in the wrong area). I'm posting again here as it's hopefully in the right place and also in the last half hour our connection has dropped a further 4 times so the issue is definitely ongoing.

 

We've had previous recurring issues with our connection (leading to a replacement router and a couple of visits from Openreach, which seemed to have mostly resolved things) but today we're again getting frequent disconnections almost every 5-10 minutes. We've already been trying all the usual troubleshooting (changing cables, rebooting the router, and we're already using the test socket) so I'm out of ideas as to where this issue is originating.

 

You can see from the user log below that we seem to get regular dropouts most days, with occasional bursts, but today has been particularly bad and consistent. I've seen reference on these forums to a "kernel panic" issue but our log doesn't have any mention of this so I'm not sure if the firmware update would help - but could be worth a try.

 

Is there anything you can do to investigate this further please? We only recently signed up for a further contract with TalkTalk and it's worrying that these issues seem to be reoccurring.

I'm sorry to hear this. I can see that the line test has detected a potential external line fault and the fault has been passed to Openreach for further investigation. Please let us know how you get on.

Hi @Defenestrated,

 

Does the router LED change from solid white to flashing amber when you have these disconnections ?

 

The newer firmware (1.06t) only has the one specific fix in for the Kernel Panic issue, so if you are not seeing that mentioned in your log then a firmware update is not likely to help.

 

The TalkTalk Support Team on this community will be able to help, they will hopefully be able to respond to this post tomorrow.
