So was ok, always a 70 something download, 19 up. nice steady graph on the usual speedchecker, not talktalk one. Guess that would have been ok to!.
On a cable from router, Was ok, not where it is. has always been fine. Wanted top package I now lock myself into again not too long ago. Best full whack upload for youtube, does peg out connection, doing anything else while videos going up line, no chance, still fine, how it works. When not uploading at full pelt to youtube expect pages to open quicker than feels like back to 2000 dial up. Even if 15Meg down would be snappy, this is not. Tried changed DNS servers to googles on computer network setting, So phone getting talktalks as router dish that out, over ride on computer. no better, pages slow. bits load all over the place, Get that as many places pages built up from but it should be nicer that 19 years ago on dial up 😞 New router to try. Unplugged the home plugs, 1 router end, 1 by TV into 4 port ethernet switch for telly and things by it. no difference, phone not doing anything, just wired computer, desktop not that old, not on a 1996 computer, not happy. Had you a long time, had money out of me for years, New router to try. Not paying, had same old router for years. Screen shots in in shared folder, just 4 pictures, nothing dodgy.

Apologies for the delay.
I've completed a line test which hasn't detected any faults and your line is in sync at 74mb.
Please can you power down your router for a full 30 minutes and then run a speed test following this.

always a connection of about 70 something. 20 up.
If web pages are crap. getting catch up telly an age to work. Tried DNS server to google
Restarted router, speed test then ok, it drops, done it for months.I want a nice connection all the time. Not down to less than 1.
Can I have a new router, had this thing long enough. Just something to try and cheapest option for talktalk.
Can turn off router but then it will work as it is now. Drop again over time to unusable.
72.3 down 18.7 up. Normal. it will but wont last. just done talktalk speed tester.

restarted after about 34 minutes, in the shared one drive folder. Does the 30 minutes off reset something in the green box down the road, normally a quick off for 10 seconds and back on sorts it but only for so long.

Thanks for switching the router off for 30 minutes, this forces the start of a new session, if you just reboot the router without leaving it off for 30 minutes then it continues the same session. Please let us know if there's any improvement

ok, thank you.
See if it holds up. the maximum speed is good, it just never lasts, we shall see. down to 2meg or lower, not really broadband is it when it goes at 70. 🙂

So the thing connects at 77 down 20 meg up. Does 69 down 19 up on a good day. happy with that. Now not going to keep turning off for 30 minutes bodging something that does not last. Done again today. the usual speed checker, not yours did worse. On talktalk one.
A two-minute test for your broadband
We've finished measuring your speed, and here are your results.
See more detail on how your connection is performing in our new Service Centre.
Please can I have a new router to try. Count out that. nothing going juat computer doing test web page. WIFI turned off. Something not right and nothing changed here. Had nothing but computer on a cable, 1 thing straight in and crap. was at less than 1meg when started moaning about this. The 30 minute turn off thing worked, now going back to crap. Old router. had years, paid for it many times over, just want to try that, cheaper than someone coming here poking about with ok wiring, set up. always worked, now not.

I'm really sorry to hear this. I've re-run the line test which hasn't detected a fault. Would you like us to send a different make and model of router for testing purposes to rule this out?

Annoying i would think. If I got 30 all the time and that's what it did. would make do. web pages would be fine. now hardly 2. It notices. Even getting your response as an email takes time to load. emails. pages, everything horrible to use.
New router at local DHL place across town, try that tomorrow. mine did 69. 70 down ok. now any more. top speed up. like you. Wanted the faster as got the top upload for youtube I make nothing out of. will drop back to cheap fibre if we get somewhere but only every 40 or below. pointless paying top money for cheaper speeds.
When we got FTTC 2001, I was the first on it here at our green box BT bloke said. as time goes on, more get it loads it up. crosstalk on the pairs of cables by yours. could be a long multicore until it slits into pole on road, a cupboard in bloke of flats, lots have a multiway cable for some of the length then your own one to property. crosstalk, some other external electrical noise. someone with a new toy . amatuer radio pumping out the watts. ( I do but low power, higher frequency. way above FTTC frequencies. always had for a few years, not bothered line so not that. something changed for me. line quite on speech. seems ok.
70 meg to now always 5 or less. not happy.
