Huawei DG8041W router kernel panics

The TalkTalk provided router has for some time now been losing connection for a few minutes close to everyday. This has become an annoyance when there are two of us working from home.

 

Looking into the logs of the router I see the following entries

1981-01-01 00:00:10 [Error][Alarm-Log] AlarmID:104001,AlarmLevel:Error,Device reset. Cause: System reset due to kernel panic, Terminal:OTHER
2021-05-02 18:52:01 [Notice][Run-Log] SNTP has synchronized successfully, current time is [2021-05-02 18:52:01+00:00 DST], uptime is [76s].
2021-05-02 18:52:03 [Critical][Config-Log] Terminal:ACS(62.24.243.161),Result:Success,Type:Set,InternetGatewayDevice.ManagementServer:,ConnectionRequestUsername:userid,ConnectionRequestPassword:-

I have seen other people on this forum with similar problems that have had a firmware update applied that supposedly fixes this problem.

 

Can one of the TalkTalk staff please have a look?

Hi kashms

 

I've made a change to the router firmware, please can you retest and let us know how the connection compares?

Yes you are correct it needs a firmware update to fix this. I have asked one of TalkTalk's OCEs to pick your thread up and investigate it for you.

They aim to respond within 48 hours (Monday - Friday), but if more urgent you can always try the Service Centre. The posts are responded to in time/date order, oldest first. Please try to avoid posting on here until TalkTalk have responded to you, otherwise, this will just put you further down the queue.

To save yourself time, please make sure that your community profile includes your first & last names, broadband phone number & if possible an alternative contact number. This can be done by clicking on your Avatar picture then click on "My Settings" followed by:-

Personal Profile > Personal Information

Otherwise, TalkTalk will not be able to tie up your forum username to your broadband account. Only you & TalkTalk have visibility of your details.
