Is it ok to use your test socket permanently?

Hi guys.

I’ve been having issues nearly every day where my broadband will drop out. My router will show a solid white light and my WiFi connection shows up on devices but I cannot load any websites or stream anything.

I have a pre filtered MK2 master socket in the house. I tried using a microfilter in the phone socket however my modem wouldn’t connect to the internet.

I have since removed the faceplate and I am using the test socket. I’m currently experiencing no issues with my broadband.

Is it ok for me to use my test socket permanently? Are pre filtered sockets prone to having problems?

I have fibre broadband (FTTC).

Thanks.

@AJW93  if you have a prefiltered master socket, the "phone" side is just that, there is NO broadband signal, so using a microfilter is useless.

If you leave the faceplate on, you connect the grey cable to the smaller, square socket, nothing else is needed.

The phone goes into the oblong socket.

Leaving the faceplate off and using the test socket with a microfilter is fine.

Hi AJW93

Thanks for your post.

My own router is permanently connected to my test socket and I've had no issues.

If you are happy to leave the router connected there then this will be fine.

Thanks

Debbie
