Does anyone here use a router other than the one provided by TalkTalk?

I have bought an Asus router, but am struggling to work out how best to connect it.

Do I still need the Talk Talk super router?

How do I turn off the wifi on the old router, etc?

Any advice evry gratefully received.

Thanks

Nick

@Trenchn1 if you just have a router connected to a phone line then you have FTTC and as you said you have FASTER FIBRE that is what it is most likely to be.

If you have FTTP you will have a real fibre cable, an network termination box (ONT) and that connected to the red WAN port on a HUB or EERO.

To turn the WiFi off, you must always save the changes and if you do so for both bands, you'll need to log in via an ethernet connection to re-enable the WiFi.

Also, in a bizarre twist. I have disabled the wifi on the tt router, but it is still working!!

How would I know if my line is FTTP or FTTC?

if its a FTTP line you have then you will be OK

if its FTTC you will need router/modem but you can use your old TT router/modem and plug it in to your new Router and turn wifi off in TT box so using new box for wifi

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have faster fibre from TT.

The router is an

ASUS - RT-AX92U WiFi Cable & Fibre Router - AX 6100, Tri-band.

I don't think it does have a modem, but unfortunately I didn't realise that I needed to check before I purchased it.

EXACTLY what service do you have from TT ?

Is your ASUS device just a router or does it have an integrated modem ?

What is the model number ?
