Phone line dead but broadband working, though slower than usual

Phone line has been dead for a couple of days, broadband connection working, but often extremely slow. Test shows its not as fast as it should be.

I've been on the chat line today, but got nowhere after 3 quarters of an hour & had to go out.

Hope you can help, thank you.

Hi Katy-99,

Thanks for the update and I'm glad to hear that the fault has been resolved 🙂

Thanks

Thank you all for your help.
Open Reach have been and we now have a clear line. Our local telegraph pole has very old and crumbling connections, so we have had several instances in the past few years where changes to other lines has damaged ours. Apparently, at some point the connection block on the pole is going to be changed at some point in the future!
Many thanks for the help on this forum - much better than the chat line!
Best Regards.

Hi Katy-99

Line tests have picked up a fault.

We have requested an engineer to go out to the exchange in the next 48 hours.

We can check the fault ticket on Thursday for an update

I have asked one of TalkTalk's OCEs to pick your thread up and investigate it for you.

The forum is not real-time 24/7 support, so depending on how busy they are & how many are working at any one time, this can take 24 - 48 hrs (excluding weekends & limited cover on Bank Holidays). Alternatively, you can call the call centre or use online chat. The posts are responded to in time/date order, oldest first. So the fewer entries you make on your thread now, the sooner they will pick it up.

To save yourself time, please make sure that your community profile includes your first & last names, broadband phone number & if possible an alternative contact number. This can be done by clicking on your Avatar picture then click on "My Settings" followed by:-

Personal Profile > Personal Information

Otherwise, TalkTalk will not be able to tie up your forum username to your broadband account. Only you & TalkTalk have visibility of your details.
