Poor wifi speeds

I have the TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub router and Faster Fibre.

I live in a two bedroom flat, the router is in my lounge.

Download speed in the lounge on my PC hardwired to the router is 59 Mbps.

Also in the lounge with an android tablet speed is 36 Mbps

Bedroom 1 varies between 28 Mbps and 6 Mbps

Bedroom 2 varies between 23 Mbps and 5 Mbps

(There are no other devices active when measuring these speeds.)

I'm not happy with these figures.
I do not think this is "A seriously strong Wi-Fi connection, punching signal into more corners of your home".
Have I got a faulty router?

No worries, only joking.  🙂

I think TalkTalk take the view that the majority of customers care little for the details of their equipment other than that it works.

Personally I think they have come up with an excellent solution in providing two alternative devices which seem to work well between them in a variety of setups i.e. if the Sagemcom doesn't do it for you then hopefully the Huawei will and vice-versa.

Sorry @ferguson I completely missed your post.

Thanks for the info.

It's surprising how difficult it is to find out about the differences between the Wifi Hub and the Wifi Hub Black.

Hi gwatuk

Please let us know how the connection compares with this router.

Thanks

@gwatuk

The Huawei HUB is the DG8041W and looks similar to what you have.

The HG633 was one of TT's "Super Routers"

Message 7 of 16

It's the latest Huawei Hub as described here. Personally, I have found it to be the best TalkTalk router I have ever used.

Message 8 of 16

When you say a Huawei Hub do you mean the HG633?

Does that mean you're sending me a different router?

If so - thank you 🙂

Hi

OK, lets try the Huawei Hub and see if that gives better wifi performance for you.

Thanks

Karl.

Hi @gwatuk how are you?  🙂

Have you tried the usual hints and tips on the help pages? Have you tried a network analyser to see if there are other competing networks in your area?
