Hello,

I was sent a Huawei router, which i got yesterday. The router isn't usable as it will just keep restarting every 15 mins. I cannot find any download links for the newer firmware and at present I'm still using the other branded router as I use VOWIFI at home, can someone from talk talk provide the firmware to allow me to use?

Also when signing up with a fresh contract, I had enquired into the 150 fibre but was told by the person on the phone that the speed caps would be removed as my line can offer 105ish max, yet the speed keeps dropping down to 63 (I assume due to the Huawei router restarting repeatedly). Can someone from

Hi

Glad it appears more stable for you now.

LOS is usually loss of signal.

Thanks

Karl.

In the debug logs it has some xdslmonitorinfo files which most state:

I assume LosDetector is loss of signal detector?

Hi,

Thank you. I've checked and the router does currently have the most recent version of firmware. Is the connection still unstable now that this router is connected again? Are there any error messages in the router logs?

Thanks

The router is connected.

Morning,

I'm sorry for the delay. We can't provide a firmware update, we would only be able to update this for you when the router is connected.

Thanks

Hi Debbie,

I'm currently using the Sagemcom router as my phone uses voice over wifi (poor mobile signal indoors), I did want to use the Huawei router as that doesn't have an issue with using VPNs but given that it keeps restarting itself over and over every 15mins or so, makes it unusable (hence why it's not plugged in).

Is there a way for this router to be updated without causing an impact on my phone usage. It does state in the router settings that firmware can be uploaded by the user.

@Skynet_TX

I'm apparently on the Fibre 65 but when I spoke to the customer loyalty team as I had enquired about the 150mb service, the lady stated all caps would be removed in regards to speed as it does state in the router settings that the line can support a max of 100mb. Maybe if Debbie or someone else could look into this also?

Thanks,

Hi Jones86

Are you now using a Sagemcom WIFI hub?

Thanks

Hi @Jones86,

You can't install firmware yourself, it can only be installed remotely by TalkTalk. If your router remained connected then it would probably update automatically overnight within a few days of being set up, but the staff here can also manually install a firmware update for you if required.

Do you have the Huawei Wi-Fi hub (the one with the single light on the front). If so then if you are able to log into the router and look at the logs can you see if there is a particular event mentioned in the log at the times it is restarting. The reason I ask is that there is a known issue that affects a small number of Huawei hubs that causes a 'kernel panic' error and makes the router reboot. If you were experiencing this specific issue then there is a new version of firmware that resolves this issue that the staff here could install for you (they would have to install this version manually for you, as it is not available for general release yet).

Regarding your second question, what package are you actually on, Fibre 65 only provides speeds of up to 80mbps, Fibre 150 requires additional equipment to be installed in your home.
