Router wifi stopped working

Hi

The router wifi appears to have stopped working.

I'm unable to access it on any of my devices.

Steps tried so far:

Restart - no change

Reset - using the pin - no change

The wifi doesn't appear to be active. The router remains with the amber light at all times.

Any suggestions how to resolve it?

Thanks,

Jed

On my account there are 2 lines showing:

- old one 020... this used to be a landline used for FTTC

- couple months ago I got fibre connected to the premise and a new line appeared FTTP...

Does the old 020... line need to be removed from my account or are they linked?

Thanks

Jed

After calling support it turns out the router was faulty and needs o be replaced.

What I also learnt is if you have a FTTP, you can plug-in a cable from the socket directly to your PC and it will work.

From there you can setup a mobile hotspot (your PC becomes a new router).

Currently waiting for a new router and my internet is still working via PC 🙂

Thanks

Jed

Morning,

Can I just confirm, is the telephone number in your Community Profile correct? Please do not post any personal information on the Community.

Thanks

Yep, that doesn't sound too healthy if you can't access the router or see the SSID.

The Support Team on this community won't be around until Monday now, so you may get faster support by using the live chat over the weekend, however the Support Team here should respond to this topic early next week to help if you still need them.

The light is solid amber.

But on top of that none of the normal functions on the router work:

- no wifi - it does not even come up as a network to connect to anymore

- tried ethernet cable direct to the router but the address assigned was unroutable 169....

Normally if there is an issue with a broadband connection this should not impact ability to connect to the router itself?

Thanks,

Jed

Thanks Jed

Hi @jedrzej,

If the light on your router is amber then that indicates the router is not currently able to get an internet connection. Is the light solid amber or flashing amber ?
